Spectrum Now Festival (11/3/15)

Sydney CBD and the Domain all lit up

Benches and food stalls

This may look hella unappetising but it was AMAZING
Fried Korean Dumpling Taco || Lemongrass Pork Taco from Poklol

MESSINA MILK BAR (YAAAS)
Fully Sik Picnic (white chocolate and hazelnut gelato, dulce de leche, hazelnut crunch base, enrobed in gianduia chocolate) || Rumbarr (lime, vodka, brown sugar sorbet and fresh mint sorbet swirled together)

GIANT MEAT SKEWERS from Daniel San (feat. cyn squeezing her face in delight)
Pork with Maple Glaze || Teriyaki Chicken

11/2/15 WEDNESDAY
  • In attempt to beat the Opal card system, Cyn and I hopped on a train just before 4pm in order to pay off-peak prices (yaaaas saving dat $1.20 yo). However, this meant we got into the city waaaay too early and proceeded to go on a leisurely stroll with the Royal Botanic Gardens (who knew it was so pretty!? #firstdateideas)
  • Anywho we finally reached the Domain (after a nice man with no shoes told us where it was) and we were gifted free light up sticks + picnic mats from ANZ (which we later on "accidentally" left on our table).
  • PSA: IF YOU HAVEN'T BEEN TO THE FESTIVAL YET, YOU NEED TO GO. They have everything from photobooths (make sure you understand the instructions before you go in otherwise you end up looking like us: confused and demonic), art exhibitions, performances, but most importantly FOOD.
  • We had a strategic plan to eat as much as we could. First, we would eat something savoury, and to cleanse we would have something sweet, and to balance everything out we would have something savoury again #genius.
  • The first meal I had was some soft tacos from POKLOL. I had already tried them during the Night Noodle Markets late last year, but they were sooo good that I had to have them again (I'm still not over my taco phase). Plus, this time around they had a DUMPLING TACO?! Two of my loves combined #fate. The dumpling was AMAZING, the filling was exactly what I had wanted with chunks of pork and vermicelli noodle, and the spicy mayo sauce was sooooo gooooood. Pork taco was also good but dumpling is where it's at yo.
  • Next up was, lbr, what we were really there for: MESSINA ! Because I felt like indulging/am a fat pig, I decided to go all out and get the Fully Sik Picnic and holy heck it was goooooOOOOoood. The white chocolate and hazelnut gelato is to die for, super creamy and sweet (but not overly so!) and the crunchy hazelnut base worked so well with it all. My only complaint: it was incredibly messy to eat so defs not a #firstdateidea haha
  • Last, we finished the night with some giant meat skewers (as you do...). The meat was cooked super tender and juicy but my favourite was definitely the pork. The sticky maple glaze was so stinkin good I would lick it off a table. Or even the ground. #classygirl
  • We stuck around a little while longer and watched some incredible, talented dancers and also a really good band (that unfortunately spotify couldn't identify :( ) and ended the night at Glue store in Central Park trying to score some freebies (didn't work out...).
